Castelsardo is a charming medieval village, located in Northern Sardinia, in the province of Sassari, nestled on a promontory overlooking the center of the Gulf of Asinara. Its natural beauty, splendid inlets, typical products, craftsmanship, traditions and characteristic port make it one of the most evocative tourist locations in Sardinia. Listed in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Castelsardo is a small, intimate, authentic village, with a holiday and salty air, with wicker baskets resting on the stone steps, flowers on the balconies, restaurant tables along the alleys. A village where getting lost brings nothing but joy and lightheartedness, where even the souvenir shops seem genuine, where the gaze is truly lost on the horizon.
The apartments of the Castelsardo – Lu Bagnu residential complexes consist of a living room with kitchenette, a bathroom, one or two bedrooms, a livable veranda where you can dine while being caressed by the cool of the evening. The rooms are furnished with elegant and refined furniture and are equipped with 4 or 6 beds. All the apartments are equipped with an intercom, fridge, washing machine, clothes horse, iron, ironing board, gas stove and dishes to ensure comfort and relaxation as if you were at home. Some have a swimming pool, others with air conditioning, some are in Castelsardo Pese, others are in the hamlet of Lu Bagnu (about 2 km from Castelsardo Centro). But there are also several interesting things to see in Castelsardo... Doria Castle Castelsardo would be very different without the profile of the fortress that stands at the highest point of the village, solid and imposing. It is beautiful to look at from all points of view, but it is even more beautiful to enjoy it: walking on the old medieval walkway that surrounds the entire village like an embrace, and more specifically on the Bastioni di Manganella (where the beautiful green area of the Castle Gardens is located), is a great way to enjoy the sea air and truly magnificent views of the coast and the open sea.
Museo dell’Intreccio Mediterraneo (MIM) The art of basket making is typical of Sardinia and several other areas of the Mediterranean; the ancient tradition involves the interweaving of fibers and plant leaves to create many different objects and for everyday use; not only li paneri, the typical baskets of all shapes that you will find hundreds of in souvenir shops and around the village, but also sieves, baskets, corbule, and even su fassoi, the typical reed boats that were used for lake fishing. The museum is located right inside the castle, so you do two things at the same time: you discover more about this ancient and manual tradition and, in the meantime, you realize the spaces and history of the castle, symbol of the village. Porto Frigianu and surroundings
Another nice walk is the one to take along Porto Frigianu, the tourist port located in the western part of Castelsardo. Being far from the historic center, this area sees few tourists and is quiet for a walk among the boats docked at the docks.
